Public bug reported:

Description:	Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release:	9.10

ffmpeg:
  Installed: 4:0.5+svn20090706-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 4:0.5+svn20090706-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 4:0.5+svn20090706-2ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I tried to use VLC to play an AVI file (tried multiple AVI's) that uses
XVID encoding. It gave an error, "No suitable decoder module: VLC does
not support the audio or video format "XVID". Unfortunately there is no
way for you to fix this."

I narrowed it down to FFMPEG, being the problem. FFMPEG is not finding
the right library. If I type "ffmpeg" into the command line, it
returns, "ffmpeg: error while loading shared libraries: libx264.so.67:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Command line, "locate libx264.so.67" returns nothing.

I can't find another bug on this issue, but I imagine it will be a big
deal. Also, I tried a bunch to find help in ubuntuforums and elsewhere,
but haven't found a solution.

** Affects: ffmpeg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
