Busted Again!!!

Today 2009-09-22 I applied all 86 of the updates which were stacked up.
After I read the email stating the full release was coming soon in
October and that people weren't supposed to be turning in broken things
I made the mistake of thinking it was alright.

Waste of my download limit.

Busted worse than before.  <Alt><F2> allows me to enter "reboot" and
select restart, but the machine locks going down...black screen with
little white underbar cursor in upper left corner.  It sits there
waiting for a response that never comes.

I don't know which particular "update" busted it, but it is busted worse
than before.  The backups I made while it was working are all useless
right now since I wouldn't be able to restore on a bet.
