Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.10 karmic (development branch)

3) I was expecting nothing, but in the Synaptic update the package
returns an error: it doesn't exists in the repositories.

4) Instead happen an error.  Then, I tried to remove with config files,
but keep going with this error.

This happens only on the default "GNOME" session.  On the Failsafe, do
not.
