Barry,

I ran into the same problem but, with the help of your report, found a
workaround.

1. Install the libsensors3 package. This allows "collectd -t -C
/etc/collectd/collectd.conf" to complete successfully (i.e. the sensors
plugin is loaded).

2. symlink /etc/sensors.conf to /etc/sensors3.conf -- the sensors plugin
seems to look for /etc/sensors.conf, and won't run if it can't find that
file.

After that, it worked for me (also on 8.04).
