Thank you for reporting this problem.

There is a new pdns-recursor package in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid), see bug
#502987. You can install it (and it is recommended to install it because
it's a security fix) by enabling -updates or -security repositories
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu).

Please give it a try and update this bugreport. Thanks.
