Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnomescan
I'm trying to scan images using Gnome Scan from an HP psc 2210
multifunctional connected to another machine on the network.
Unfortunately Gnome Scan corrupts the images. They turn out mostly
black, with just a few lines of the actual image visible here or there.
This happens in the preview as well as the actual scanned image,
although strangely the preview seems to have more lines visible. Also,
exactly which lines of the image are visible seems to be random, and
different every time.
I can't check whether xsane does perform correctly over the network, as
that doesn't work due to a different (and I think unrelated, as xsane
never gets as far as actually performing a scan) bug. However, I can
scan images correctly on the machine to which the scanner is connected
itself, so I know the scanner and the basic sane infrastructure is
working.
The machine on which I'm doing the scanning is running Karmic Koala
64-bits with version 0.6.2-0ubuntu1 of flegita and 1.0.20-4ubuntu3 of
libsane. The machine to which the scanner is connected is running Hardy
Heron 32-bits with version 1.0.19-1ubuntu3 of libsane and 1.0.14-5 of
sane.
I've attached the correct image (scanned with xsane running on the
machine where the scanner is connected), two examples of corrupted ones,
and a screenshot of the corrupted preview.
