Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

This bug is similar in nature to a previous bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-volume-
manager/+bug/21253) which dealt with media popping up in Nautilus on
startup when it was already connected at boot - and which is now fixed.

In this case, when you put a computer running Ubuntu which has mounted
external storage devices (such as a USB key or hard drive) into suspend
mode and then wake up again, Nautilus will popup on the screen
displaying the content of said external storage devices. This should not
occur as these devices were already mounted when the computer went into
the suspend state. By popping up again, nautilus will irritate the user
and also clutter the screen, especially if many hard disks or usb drives
are connected - suspend should be a smooth operation where the computer
should wake up with the screen in exactly the same state as it was in
beforehand.

I would imagine that this "bug" could be reproduced on any machine
running the latest and indeed older editions of Ubuntu.
