not sure if Anton32828 got this figured out yet but he said, "1) No
ability to clear document history within the applications. This is a
function of the Gnome "Places" menu which isn't available in UNR."

and I found out a shortcut...

press "Alt + F1" to display a normal drop-down that includes "Places"
where you can then "Clear Recent Documents" inside of the "Recent
Documents" menu item.
