Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Firefox 3.5.7 crashes when I enter certain websites. Especially sites
containing lots of flash applets. When I launch firefox through
terminal, the first thing to pop up is: (firefox:3372): GLib-WARNING **:
g_set_prgname() called multiple times

Here is an example of the rest of the output when firefox crashes:

(firefox:3430): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid unclassed pointer in
cast to `GtkObject'

(firefox:3430): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: instance with invalid (NULL)
class pointer

(firefox:3430): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_handler_disconnect:
assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

(firefox:3430): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: instance with invalid (NULL)
class pointer

(firefox:3430): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_handler_disconnect: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed
Segmentation fault

If I downgrade libglibc 2.0-0 to version 2.22.2 instead of 2.22.3,
stability increases and when I start firefox I do not see the output
"(firefox:3372): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times"
anymore. However, firefox still crashes, but less frequently. I
installed a clean version of ubuntu 9.10 karmic from a cd I burned
recently, so I am surprised that I have not found more information about
this problem.

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
