Hello!
I tried to install the latest VirtualBox (3.1.2) from the virtualbox.org:
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/3.1.2/virtualbox-3.1_3.1.2-56127_Ubuntu_karmic_amd64.deb
But failed. :C
Then I removed the installed package.
After that, I tried to install the OSE verzion from the Synaptic.
But it failed too...
Tried to look up what happened, it mentioned the log would be in /var/log/vbox-install.log. This log referred to another log for further info: /var/lib/dkms/vboxdrv/3.0.8/build/, where was absolutely nothing. (the build dir was empty)
I think something about the linux-headers are fishy, so tried to install some:
linux-headers-virtual (this installs the linux-headers-2.6.31-17-server too)
But it failed again.
1) Ubuntu 9.10 -  Karmic Koala
2) vboxgtk 0.5.0-1ubuntu1 which installs additional packages too: virtualbox-ose 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1, virtualbox-ose-source 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1, virtualbox-ose-qt 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1
