Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-vpnc

I had several working VPN connections with network-manager-vpnc before, but after I installed network-manager-pptp to be able to use UMTS connections (which worked), I found that I'm no longer able to get a working VPN tunnel by using the network-manager-vpnc plugin.
I can, however, get a connection using "sudo vpnc MyVPN --local-port 0". Without --local-port, vpnc fails with:
/usr/sbin/vpnc: Error binding to source port. Try '--local-port 0'
Failed to bind to 0.0.0.0:500: Address already in use
I found a post (in German) regarding this problem, which suggests that even purging/reinstalling vpnc and nm-vpnc doesn't remedy this behaviour: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/probleme-mit-vpnc-verbindung-nur-mittels-loca/#post-2240547

I'm using:
Ubuntu: 9.10
vpnc: 0.5.3-1
network-manager: 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1
network-manager-vpnc: 0.8~a~git.20091008t124012.f5b95a2-0ubuntu1
network-manager-pptp: 0.8~a~git.20091013t190309.0c39c37-0ubuntu1

** Affects: network-manager-vpnc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
