If all you did was tar the whole system, I'd at least expect /etc/fstab
to be wrong.

Ubuntu uses UUID to mount the various partitions. Those are stored in
the filesystem headers, so if you didn't do a full disk image, those
will be different on your target system and need to be updated by hand.

Another thing that may or may not be a problem, if you use network
filesystems, you'll need to cleanup
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules so that your first network
card correctly receives the name eth0.
