I understand your frustration but please do not claim things which you
cannot prove.

If you're on 386 you can add the trash back by

$xxd /usr/bin/xfdesktop |sed '/^00111d0/ s/0800/0801/' | xxd -r >xfdesktop

then chmod +x and copy this xfdesktop over to /usr/bin
