On screen keyboard for xubuntu?

hi,

can anyone comment on the current landscape and development of an on board
alpha keyboard for xubuntu?
or
could someone point me to the where I can read instructions to create an
alpha keyboard for xubuntu?
I did see something about Gok? for ubuntu but I thought I would ask for help
and clarity on what is out there
currently....
