[xubuntu-users] Upgrade Xubuntu Karmic to Lucid (via command line???)

I need to to upgrade my Xubuntu Karmic to Lucid:
The thing is I'm a LOT more comfortable trying to follow Command line
instructions than I am trying to get my uncooperative hands to wrestle a
mouse pointer onto the correct spot long enough to click on anything...
Thus I was looking for a command line method I used to be a kde guy and
way back the kubuntu method USED to be to edit the sources to replace all
instances of old release name with new release name and then it was
either sudo apt-get upgrade, or sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. But that
certainly wouldn't work anymore.
So {among other things} I searched for:
"upgrade ubuntu karmic to Lucid howto command line"
and I came across this:
http://icewalkerz.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-to-upgrade-ubuntu-910-karmic-to.html
Which basically says:
Add the below line to Software Sources list
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu lucid multiverse
on terminal execute the below command
sudo apt-get install update-manager-core
sudo do-release-upgrade -d
Could it be that easy? wouldn't I at least need to edit all instances of
"karmic" to say "lucid"??
Of course I'd be well advised to BACK-UP Karmic so I can restore it if
the upgrade don't work and all that. And I wouldn't dream of doing this
without first doing an "sudo apt-get upgrade" or sudo apt-get
dist-upgrade. The later of course being (If I understand it) the same as
using synaptic to mark all available upgrades and clicking on apply.
But somehow the above how-to seems very short. Does anyone know if the
method works??????
