Not that any of the information below is specific to you, but I have had
2 issues which caused Xubuntu to not boot.
1. The video drives, as you said
2. Bad drive
I'd suggest booting to the recovery to check the drive. Then there if
you continue to have problems, you may uninstall the nvidia drivers.
I'm still trying to find the docs on how to do that.
