[xubuntu-users] gnome causes xfce to fail

I've had this issue a few times.

I accidentally boot into Gnome, usually after booting to the recovery to 
fix some things.  After booting to Gnome I am unable to boot to xfce. 
Moving my .config dir out of the way seems to fix it.

What I am wondering is what specifically is altered when booting to 
Gnome that prevents XFCE from booting in the future?
