Oh well, I have checked. Firstly on VBox I checked for updates. It tells
me that I have the most recent version, which is not correct I now realise.

So I had a look at the VBox site and checked for downloads. Yes indeed
there is a version 4.2 with a list of some of the Ubuntu versions. I
must choose the correct version to download it says. The problem is that
my version of Ubuntu, Maverick, is not included in the list.

This confirms for me that I must upgrade my distro, or rather install an
up to date version soon, but which one? That question is the reason I am
using VBox to check out various distros before deciding.
