OK, I tried it with a live-USB of today's Quantal Xubuntu. And ... the
power meter doesn't crash, and the brightness buttons work!
Then I booted back into my installation. And ... the power meter
doesn't crash (or hasn't yet), and the brightness buttons work!
That was quick :-)
