I am not using Samba, and I do not use Windows at all. Every computer 
here runs Linux. They are all on the same network of course. We have 
just the one router. The desktop is attached to it using a cable. The 
laptops use wifi to link to that router.

Previously I had an Epson printer, and we were using earlier versions of 
Xubuntu or Mint Xfce. That worked. Now that we have all upgraded to 
Xubuntu 12.04 and I have a new HP printer I am getting this problem.
