I am coming in the middle of this so apologize in advance if I am
repeating anything. I have the same need of the Broadcom:
$ lspci
05:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN
(rev 01)
and installing any of the drivers sent my system into kernel panic on
reboot... what works for me is:
sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree
from: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1997880
Hope this is relevent, or apologizes if I am stepping in where I shouldn't.
Fred
