The easiest fix I use is to set the user at login-in "Not ask for
password" at login (depending on security and this is not required just
a convenience). Log in to her account and go to users

Settings Manager > User and Groups > [your user] > Advance Settings >
Advance(tab)

and set your user id number to 999 (anything less than 1000 and not
used). You will not be able to change this in your own account. This
will have the effect of removing you from the greeters list. When you
are ready to login use "Other..." option and manually enter your user.

I use this all the time to keep a clean admin user available and out of
sight with the people I work with so should fit perfect for what you are
doing. While you are in your wife's profile you can set her picture in
"About Me" under Setting Manager.
