Pine/Alpine's main advantage is that it's purely text based, and dosen't
load *anything* from external sites, and dosen't execute attachments.

So your machine isn't going to get infested with html- and
attachment-borne viruses/malware, faked out by bogus URLs that look like
legitimate links in spam, and you won't be 'tracked' or alert spammers by
triggering web-bugs that tell the sender you've opened the message.

You can also see the raw html in the if you turn on full headers.

Opening *anything* in html mail that's not from trusted sources (and those
are often spoofed) is just flat dangerous these days.
