[xubuntu-users] Grub - How to Remove Entries from Boot Menu

I wish to remove nuisance entries from the boot menu presented by Grub at
boot. I see:

    Advanced options for Ubuntu
    Windows-7
    Memory test (memtest86+)
    Memory test (memtest86+, serial console . . .
    Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda1)
    Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sdc1)
    Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sdc2)

I'm dual booting Xubuntu and Windows-7. Only the last entry is valid - booting
from /dev/sdc2. I wish to get rid of all of the other entries for Windows. But
how?

I've read and re-read many tutorials / documents on using Grub2 and fail to
grasp how to achieve what I wish to do. Bamboozled I am.

Parenthetically, I believe the some of the erroneous entries arise because
there are several NTFS partitions on various hard drives as well as an SSD
(sdc), although that does not explain the "Windows-7" entry - that choice
yields a no-such partition error when selected.
