[xubuntu-users] Annoying flicker in notification area since upgrading to 16.04

I recently upgraded my desktop machine from 15.10 to 16.04, it has all
gone pretty smoothly, however there is one minor annoyance:-

The "Indicator Plugin" section of my panel 'flickers' every so often,
it seems like about once a minute.  It's very distracting because it
just catches one's peripheral vision without actually doing anything
useful.

Has anyone else noticed this problem and, more to the point, is there
a fix for it?
