[xubuntu-users] Lost terminal text cursor when closing non-terminal window

I ran into this recently on my laptop and wonder if anyone else has seen it.

I run Xubuntu 16.04 LTS on all my systems. On my HP8740w laptop,
occasionally when I do something (I'll explain below), the cursor
focus on my terminal windows gets lost and I can't type anything in
the terminal windows.

I usually run with two terminal windows open. I noticed that, every
once in a while, when I run another window app, say LibreOffice, and
when I close that window, the keyboard cursor does not return to the
previous focus window.

This appears as an outline text cursor in both terminal windows,
instead of the usual solid block where the text cursor focus is
expected (in the window to whose focus the GUI returns). Switching
between the remaining windows (with <alt><esc>) does not fix this.

I recovered this morning by switching workspaces and switching back.
I vaguely recall another time when I opened a new window and closed it
and IIRC that worked, too.

It should not be that easy to lose the text cursor. This should not
be possible at all.

I'd report a bug, but I'm not sure to whom it should be reported -
XFCE? LO? Xubuntu? Someone else?

Guidance appreciated.

Thanks.
MR
