Disable this option xfce4-settings-manager > Removable Drives and Media
> Storage and let nautilus handle the desktop. Enable it by nautilus
settings or gesettings or where ever else this crap has got those
settings. I guess Thunar as well as Nautilus relay on gvfs for this
task. On my installs gvfs is an empty dummy package ;).
