In regards to the "noatime" hint, consider to read the mount manpage
instead of suspect sources from the internet.
"relatime" is the default fstab entry for all Ubuntu flaovours .
For pro-audio usage I'm using "noatime" for HDDs, to decrease the risk
of real-time performance issues.
From the mount manpage:
"relatime
Update inode access times relative to modify or change
time. Access time is only updated if the previous access time was
earlier than the current modify or change time. (Similar to noatime,
but it doesn't break mutt or other applications that need to know if a
file has been read since the last time it was modified.)"
SSDs are read/write media, aimed to replace HDDs. They won't last
forever, but if they really would be that touchy, then nobody should
use them at all. However, "relatime" already decrease the write access,
while "noatime" could cause issues and only make sense for dedicated
usage, e.g. real-time audio production on slow HDDs.
Sorry, I can't help you with your request, but spreading wrong
information about SSDs needs to be corrected.
