menulibre ($USER) has no write access there.

One thing you can do in menulibre is select the launcher, then 
select/copy the file/path at the bottom of the screen, paste it into a 
root terminal and edit away.  :-)

I do this more often than not. It's the only way to avoid local 
*.desktop files masking the system files. I just edit the system files 
directly. I'm the only user on the box (my PC) so it doesn't matter.
