[xubuntu-users] Upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04.2 -- How to get it to run?

Finally worked last night. After cleaning up and removing some apps, I
got it clean and it worked. Now I'm cleaning up post-upgrade tidbits
(see my post today).   :-)
