I did not find that worked for me. What seemed to work and appears logical with
this 2 step verification is using OAuth2 (selecting it rather than Normal
Password) BUT one must go into
Edit > Preferences > Security > Passwords - select Saved passwords and delete
old passwords.

Once one knows that step TB then does the rest. Different folk have posted help
on google pages but some still show the old password method which does not
work.... hence my original post as this OAuth2 has come in since I last used
TB. I can't see it is any security improvement over a good 20+ character
password.

Trouble with google is 'they are too clever for their own good' as the old
saying goes. After spending time with TB and Evolution I have decided to go
with Evolution as it is quicker somehow than TB. I did find TB slow before and
used Alpine for a while which is lightning quick (presumably because it is a
text email client) but no html.
