[xubuntu-users] problem upgrading from 18.04 lts to 20.04 lts

I did it, most were about 23 ms. < 5% went up to 35-60 ms.  what is the 
purpose of this?
what is 8.8.8.8?

I have been pulled away from the computer since I sent the first 
messages re the problem.  Another person reminded me that the lts 
version is not made available for upgrades until the first .1 release.  
I forgot about that for 2 reasons. one, I searched and found that it had 
been released with no reference to delays on upgrade data, and, two, a 
different issue at the same time is I was constantly going off line even 
though I can read my mail, go to specific web site accessing remote 
databases with no problems, etc.  I was only going off line to update 
the "upgrade database".
