Thanks for your most insightful response, Mats. I think you will find that you 
are *not* the target market for the front page of the Web site? Please read:

It is critical that the front page meet the needs of the target audience. The 
developers on the list are not the target audience. In fact I'll wager that 
most people on the list haven't looked at the front page of the site in ... at 
least a month? Most "advanced" users (like the ones on this list) will arrive 
through a side door. e.g. via Google or a previously bookmarked page.

Please also note that the CURRENT site also uses a fixed-pixel width for the 
content.
