The new Launchpad download functions are nice, but they're still
missing a few key things that we do need to take into account:

 * users want to find the latest release for their platform of
interest, not just be shown the latest release, which may have no
relevant binaries available

 * there can be multiple active interesting series: we'll soon have
2.0.0 and 2.1b1, both of interest to different audiences and of nearly
equal importance.  (Eventually we may have even more with say 2.0.4,
2.1.0, and 2.2b1 but at that point I think we can shunt 2.0.4 onto an
"older releases" page.)
