Thanks for the detailled research. However, I need to know where hald fails
exactly, so can you please do the following steps:
* sudo killall hald
* activate your full NIS setup (i. e. permissions imported from NIS server)
* sudo hald --drop-privileges --daemon=no --verbose=yes 2>&1 | tee hal.log
* wait for the flood to settle
I strongly suspect that hal will terminate, and I am interested in the
particular location.
Also, we cannot fix hal 0.4.7 any more anyway, only Breezy. Do you have a chance
to test this in Breezy? If it works there, it is settled anyway, and if it
doesn't, a hal debug output on Breezy would be much more helpful since it is the
target I can still fix (if you test this on Breezy, leave out the
"--drop-privileges" option).
