Well actually I did install a few things like build-essential, tomboy,
and inkscape, but I cant see how those packages would make deskbar
install (probably wrong on that one).

As for where it claims to do these things:  Under Preferences -> Loaded
Extensions

by default it lists a multitude of things it is supposedly indexing,
including "Files and Folders" and since that is not qualified with a
more exact definition, infers my files and folders.
