I can confirm this bug here. I'm on Dapper Drake. Right click on the panel >" Add to Panel" crashes the panel. Opening the Gnome Menu, right-clicking on an entry and selecting "Add this launcher to panel" works, though.
Nevertheless it's a very annoying bug, since it's not possible to add applets like the current weather, etc. to the panel like this and the Gnome Menu workaround is less intuitive.
