I tried with the edgy version of gnome-terminal (2.16.1-0ubuntu1) and get the same issue, so I don't think it's really a gnome-terminal issue. Could someone also try with the edgy version? -- gnome-terminal reacting very sluggishly https://launchpad.net/bugs/85575
