Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-cups-manager

I have a samba-hosted SMB network with a passwordless `guest' account.
To use the samba-hosted printer, I do the following:

1. System / Preferences / Printing (why Preferences, btw?)
2. New Printer
3. Wait for bug 94218
4. Printer Type: Network Printer
5. Printer Type: Network Printer Windows Printer (SMB) [from dropdown]
At this point, after about a 500ms delay, a dialogue appears asking for username and password.
6. Delete my Ubuntu login name and write "guest" instead; leave Password blank; click Connect.
7. From the Host: dropdown, select the print server.

Now the bug occurs: I get another "authentication required" dialogue. Once again I have to:
8. Delete my Ubuntu login name and write "guest" instead, and click Connect.
9. Select the printer from the Printer: dropdown.

I notice that at this point the Username field is still my Ubuntu
username but this appears not to prevent actual printing. I don't know
whether that's because in my configuration the print server (samba) is
configured not to mind the wrong username, or because the value in the
Username:/Password: fields in the "Step 1 of 3" page (as opposed to the
dialogues) is irrelevant.

** Affects: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
