Hello Mark

I believe the problem is the memory of your graphic board/ the highest possible colordepth of your clients. I know this problem.

open /opt/ltsp/i383/etc/lts.conf
paste X_COLOR_DEPTH=16
save
then rebuild the image with
sudo ltsp-update-image
(wait)
restart the client

Is there no sucess you can try
X_COLOR_DEPTH=15

or if that is not the solution another way

sudo chroot /opt/ltsp/i386

Give your root of your clients a password with

passwd

You have to rebuild the image with

sudo ltsp-update-image

(wait)
restart your client

Now you use CRLT+ALT+F1 to open the busybox (tty1)

login as root with your new passwd

cd /var/log

less Xorg.6.log

I hope you will find the fault in the last lines of this logfile.
Perhaps you have to select another Xserver
