Title:
synaptic tries to run gksu on kubuntu
Status in “synaptic” package in Ubuntu:

Status in “synaptic” package in Debian:

Bug description:
Binary package hint: synaptic
When installing synaptic on Kubuntu (faisty herd3), it fails to start
from K-Menu or via "synaptic" in the run command box.
When starting synaptic this way, kdesu pops up asking the user password for running command "gksu synaptic".
This fails since gksu is not installed on kubuntu.
It seems a little absurd, since kdesu is obviosly started. So why use
gksu?
When running synaptic from the terminal it does not try to run as
root.
As a work around you can edit the K-Menu entry and put "root" into the run-as-different-user Box (the option is already cheked, but the textbox is empty).
You can also run synaptic as root using "kdesu synaptic" as command.
