Title:
Live CD doesn't warn the user that they don't have enough RAM to
  continue.

Status in “casper” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: casper

When I pick the "Install Ubuntu" on the Mar08 Hardy LiveCD with less
than 256MB of ram assigned to my VirtualBox, Ubiquity crashes, and
immediately starts to load the gnome interface. This is confusing. I
would expect to get an error message like "Ubiquity crashed". When
this first happened I just assumed that I had selected the wrong boot
  option.

A more detailed error message like
"Ubiquity crashed. Ubiquity requires 360[?] MB of ram to run, but you only have 128MB. Try the alternate boot CD. Also Xubuntu may be more suited to your hardware."
  would be even better.
