The 9.10 version of the Live CD is no longer supported. Have you
experienced this with a later version of Ubuntu Live CDs?

Title:
No password, cannot browse local disk

Status in “casper” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: livecd-rootfs

  In Hardy-alpha-6 on a Dell Inspiron E1505 / 6400 I could not browse
some harddrive partitions from the LiveCD. Only sda1 was mounted and
readable. To try to read the other partitions I clicked Filesystem or
something similar in Nautilus, however, I got a popup asking me for
the password. Of course, running the LiveCD there was no user
password, so I could not mount and browse the other partitions.
Enclosed is a terrible phone-camera image of the popup dialog box.
