Title:
udevd writes syslog messages on the screen
Status in “cryptsetup” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: cryptsetup
Usplash is not active. The argument "quiet" is passed to boot.
There's lots of messages printed by udevd on the screen during boot: see file attached.
It happens when cryptsetup is installed.
More precisely, the problem occurs when /lib/cryptsetup/askpass is called.
user at jaunty$ cat /proc/cmdline
root=UUID=9ceb4b9e-7677-4031-a6da-1996e3542ca2 ro quiet vga=789
But these "udevd" messages are not printed on screen if :
- the "askpass" invocation is removed from "scripts/local-top/cryptroot"
- or if the package cryptsetup is not installed
