Your 2nd test in busybox isn't greping the output of wget but the
"Release" file from the filesystem which contains those lines as you've
shown in your first test.

Can you repeat the 2nd test without mentioning the "Release" file in the
piped grep call?

Title:
incorrectly claims "no support for specified release"

Status in “choose-mirror” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
In the netboot installer, it's failing to get past choose-mirror
  because it claims that:

WARNING **: mirror does not support the specified release (precise)
INFO: mirror does not have any suite symlinks

However the wget command it is showing works fine in a busybox shell.
Please see the attached photos of both.
