Thanks for the information but I hadn't downloaded an ISO image, I was
using the update manager to do the installation/update.
I solved the problem before receiving this email by downloading the ISO
image and using that.
Thanks,
Gordon

Subject: [Bug 995110] Re: install of 12.04 failed to restart, was trying to erase and reinstall
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it
would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be
corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO
files you download. Could you please visit
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions
and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified? Thanks in
advance.

missing filesystemsize file

Invalid
Bug description:
When installing 12.04, system failed to restart.
Manually rebooted and just get a blank screen.
Tried recovery mode, system hangs with meaningless (to me) messages.
Loaded previous version (11.10) and was trying to erase 12.04 and reinstall (system seemed to think it was installed?). Installer crashed just as I was about to choose timezone.
