Gotwig, could you build an ISO image with ubuntu -proposed enabled and see if this upload fixes the issue? I suppose the repo has to be enabled on host.
If you can't use scripts from lp:ubuntu-cdimage, try building an elementary OS image with Congrego, it uses gfxboot-theme-ubuntu too. I hope it will be a sufficient test for verifying the fix.

Bug description:
  Hey,

  the strings are often , in over 30 languages curently, too long for
  the menu, so users can't see them at that low boot resolution.

  The strings should be shorter, if not: users CAN'T read the boot
  options from the liveusb or livecd.

  I reported that at the Ubuntu Translator Mailinglist, but it was too
  late for Ubuntu 12.04.
