@dino, the problem with "/etc/resolv.conf not created during bootstrap" is related to the GNU/Linux OS, and does not involve a change to the GParted application code.

Title:
  LVM2 support missing (update-request)

Status in “gparted” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi,

  I'am asking for an update-request as suggested by marcobra (Marco
  Braida) to integrate the last gparted version regarding to a new
  fix/feature.

  Indeed, there was a major fix in version 0.14 of GParted that allows LVM2 to be manipulated... Actually, the Ubuntu package contents a 0.12.1 version anterior to this fix.
  Furthermore, the 0.14 version is qualified of "stable" by GParted team.

  Extract from gparted changelog:
  "The big news with this release is the added ability to move, resize, check, create, and delete Physical Volumes under Logical Volume Management - LVM2 PV (bug #670171). This major addition to GParted 0.14.0 is thanks to work by Mike Fleetwood."
      {Extact from http://gparted.org/news.php}

  Distributor ID:	Ubuntu
  Description:	Ubuntu 12.10
  Release:	12.10
  Codename: quantal
