Right, the three linux packages are security updates. They are listed
here: http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-1606-1/

The bug is that apt-check thinks that 3 packages are 6 packages. That's
what needs to be addressed.

Here are the results of apt-check and apt-get dist-upgrade after
installing the three packages:

$ sudo /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt-check --human-readable
0 packages can be updated.
0 updates are security updates.

$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

  apt-check reports 6 security updates, but apt-get dist-upgrade only
  shows 3. Something is amiss.
