I guess what usually gets me is when the stage of writing the boot
record is started before the copy is complete. So an operation that in
my thinking only takes a bit suddenly seems to take much too long. Also
this might be cause of some "process stuck for more than 2min" messages
if the writing of the boot record gets delayed. So maybe a sync in
between those two would help (not for the progress bar lying
unfortunately).
